All I Did Today Is Work

entrecard_avatar.jpg Sunday, 11 October 09 - 05:59 PM (GMT +03:00)
By Anthony J Namata in Diary

It's another Sunday and the only thing I've done today is work! But I do feel good about myself, it's almost surreal. I tinkered with Facebook today; posted on Twitter and wrote a thousand plus word article on Money Management that I've already submitted to two major article directories, iSnare and EzineArticles (pending approval, bummer!). I say, not bad. Not bad at all.

I think I've got my groove back on, of sorts, because my concentration is better than it has been in a while. Sometimes, I think, if you don't want to do stuff, just don't. Just go easy on yourself. When your body is ready to get a move on again, it will. I think that is precisely what's happening to me (lol).

That's it for today (I think). Oh, I hope you read my article on the Douglas DC-3 which I published here yesterday. A lot on that is still to come. Watch this space.

Have a great weekend, folks!

Recharge Your Batteries, the Payoff is Great!

entrecard_avatar.jpg Friday, 09 October 09 - 10:51 PM (GMT +03:00)
By Anthony J Namata in Diary

I think the rest did payoff. I feel more like myself now, I honestly do. I'm quite amazed at the the amount of energy I had in the gym today, I really felt more powerful than I have in a while. So yes, everyone, just staying in bed for a day (a bit excessive I know) can help you recharge your batteries.

I may be on to another marketing contract. I had a meeting today which went really well. I'm putting the agreement together as we speak. See how that goes.

In so far as work goes, in all honesty, I haven't done much today. Not online anyway. I went out in the morning to meet a client, and then went to the bank, grabbed a pizza on my way home (I needed a change from my regimented healthy-living meal plan). Had a nap in the afternoon and then went to the gym (in my garden); watched my soaps, and now I plan to start my vocal training for an hour (I think I'm recording a track in the studio tomorrow).

Ciao for now!

I Couldn't be bothered to get out of bed

entrecard_avatar.jpg Thursday, 08 October 09 - 11:42 PM (GMT +03:00)
By Anthony J Namata in Diary

I went to bed with a severe migraine last night and got up WITH IT this morning. I popped a couple of painkillers after my breakfast (a protein shake blended with banana and apple); went to meet my new gardener who reported for duty today, and then seriously, I went back to bed and stayed there till this evening. I just couldn't be bothered. I did post this on Twitter a while ago -- just to say how horrible I felt. If you've seen anything else by me on Twitter today, trust me, it was automated... one of those tweets you preset via socialoomph. Bottomline? I did absolutely NOTHING today. And now, after my last soap for the day (I was dosing off by the way), I'm off to bed, again.

Goodnite folks!

It just amounts to a pretty wasted day

entrecard_avatar.jpg Wednesday, 07 October 09 - 12:15 AM (GMT +03:00)
By Anthony J Namata in Diary

I don' have a lot to say about today. It just amounts to a pretty wasted day. I haven't really done much. Disgraceful. I worked on my novel intermittently during the course of the day but I just kept getting distracted. Tomorrow I'll have to get back on track. Sometimes it really is hard to stick to a schedule (well, today I didn't even have one). Damn!

I am so exhausted it's unreal. I've just finished watching my last soap for the day, I'm off to have another hot shower (it's so sticky around here) and then I'm off to bed.

Catch you folks tomorrow!

This is so not happening!

entrecard_avatar.jpg Monday, 05 October 09 - 10:51 AM (GMT +03:00)
By Anthony J Namata in Diary

My alarm went off at 8am, but I quickly switched it off and stayed in bed for an hour. For the life of me I don't even know WHY I haven't canceled the damned thing... shoulda done days ago (I'm just about to). If ever there was a day I so didn't want to get out of bed, that day is today... when my maid has taken half the day off to go to court (don't ask); I need to go to the bank; I need to find a new gardener (I kicked out the little toe-rag gardener last week after I found out he was stealing some of my rare plants, I completely lost my rag!).

Let's see how the day pans out but from where I'm standing it doesn't look good. First off, the power supply has just been cut off (I'm on battery with my laptop here), let's see what other surprises spring up during the course of the day. I have a lot of work to do online today and these freaking animals go take away the power. Grrr

Blog Diary - Going Back to Basics

entrecard_avatar.jpg Sunday, 04 October 09 - 10:32 PM (GMT +03:00)
By Anthony J Namata in Diary

When I first started this blog diary it was, basically, just that -- a diary. I then began to experiment with various ideas (ways to blog for traffic) ... if you look at the menu  you'll see the different topics in which I write, but having done all of that (which I have no intention to discontinue), I have decided to go back to the original format, the diary.

So here's the plan...

I'll keep it minimalistic (for lack of a better word) but post more frequently. I'm thinking--publish daily and at times several times a day if needs be... content that revolves around my day and what I get up to INCLUDING what time I roll out of bed. So there you have it! I think I'll roll this out tomorrow. This little blog post here is just an intro (and like I said, I'll be keeping it short and tight).

How to Promote TripleClicks Products On Twitter

entrecard_avatar.jpg Monday, 21 September 09 - 11:39 AM (GMT +03:00)
By Anthony J Namata in Diary

For the benefit of my SFI downline I am going to list the simple steps you need to take to promote TripleClicks products on Twitter. If you're not already a member of this social network (Twitter), don't panic, this article provides a step by step guide to getting started AND to profiting on Twitter.

But first, let's get a little background on Twitter

Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read messages known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on the author's profile page and delivered to the author's subscribers who are known as followers. Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends or, by default, allow open access. Users can send and receive tweets via the Twitter website, Short Message Service (SMS) or external applications. While the service costs nothing to use, accessing it through SMS may incur phone service provider fees.

The 140 character limit on message length was initially set for compatibility with SMS messaging, and has brought to the web the kind of shorthand notation and slang commonly used in SMS messages. The 140 character limit has also spurred the usage of URL shortening services such as tinyurl, bit.ly and tr.im, and content hosting services, such as Twitpic and NotePub to accommodate multimedia content and text longer than 140 characters.

Read the full Twitter story at Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twitter

So let's get started on How to Profit On Twitter...

So here's the quick step-by-step guide I promised you earlier. My strategy is quite simple. If you don't already have a Twitter account, please open one at Twitter.com (it only takes a few minutes). If you don't already have an SFI Marketing Group account, get one FREE from cashinjectionstrategy.com

Step 1. Log in to TripleClicks.com with your SFI ID and password (you MUST login otherwise this won't work!).

Step 2. Tweet the Deal-of-the-day (to see how it works), and then select any number of products on the site and tweet those too.

And that's all there is to it!

Do this regularly and you will GET new followers and who knows, you may even sell some products.

IMPORTANT: Don't SPAM the system. Be rational with your advertising. Add interesting content to your tweets as well (like real people do). Don't behave like a SPAM bot.

How to Automate Your Twitter Tweets...

I know, it can be quite a headache keeping up with all this marketing stuff, especially when you have so many other important things to do. But hey, don't fret. Cos I'm gonna tell you what I do. I sequentially load all of my advertising tweets (especially) onto this fantastic little tool (coming up) and presto, my tweets go out in intervals that I set myself... could be minutes, hours, days, weeks or even months!

Micro Blogging On Twitter: I'm So Lazy, this Works for Me

entrecard_avatar.jpg Saturday, 05 September 09 - 08:28 PM (GMT +03:00)
By Anthony J Namata in Diary

This may come across like really badly for my image, but in all honesty, when it comes to blogging I am quite lazy. But hey, thanks to Twitter, micro blogging makes it so much easier for me (and everyone), it really does.

What actually amazed me the other day is when I found out that businesses are now actually hiring skilled freelancers, via the outsource marketplace, to market their businesses on Twitter. One firm I found has a budget of $600 a month, can you believe that? It may sound too outrageously daunting a task, but believe it or not it can all be automated using http://www.socialoomph.com/ ... that's what makes this such an easy yet lucrative undertaking for a provider like myself. All you need to do is get all the tweets your client wants put out, and get the intervals they want scheduled in. The rest is easy, through socialoomph.com you can sequentially set this up by the  minute, the hour, daily, whatever you like. Set it up and forget about it.

Taking a serious look at SEO today

entrecard_avatar.jpg Tuesday, 01 September 09 - 12:41 PM (GMT +03:00)
By Anthony J Namata in Diary

It's another day. Last night I was so exhausted (I had to stay online till midnight) even though I had arrears of sleep. I decided that I wasn't going to bother getting out of bed the next morning. Well, I did in the end -- at 10am; switched on the home theater to play Paula Abdul's album Head Over Heals and slowly dragged myself out of bed. Not a bad way to start the day.

I'm taking a serious look at SEO today. I want more traffic more sales this month. I've been tweeting intermittently this morning ... topics straight out of Google Hot Trends, which, in case you didn't know, tracks the most searched topics and keywords on Google (updated on the hour); and products out of TripleClicks. I'm also experimenting, since last night, another way to generate traffic to my Twitter page AND followers... by posting hot topics out of Google Hot Trends. Too early to say, but I think it is begining to show positive results. I will keep you posted.

Have a nice day,

Anthony J. Namata

The Day's Recap

entrecard_avatar.jpg Monday, 24 August 09 - 09:08 PM (GMT +03:00)
By Anthony J Namata in Diary

I just finished reading three novels (one last night), and now I want to review every single one of them. Perhaps later tonight...when I have a moment. In the meanwhile, I've been up and about getting things organized for my dad's Thanks Giving Mass this Friday. Newspaper ads go out tomorrow, there was an announcement in church on Sunday, and I've sent SMS to everybody. Tomorrow, I need to go do a couple things at my dad's grave.

I've decided to offer FREE Marketing Advice to local businesses. My ad goes out in a local paper this Friday. Let's see how it goes. The plan is to take appointments over the phone to chat on Yahoo Messenger at an agreed date and time. Saves time and the commute (which I hate). I will keep you posted on how that goes.

When Someone You Love Dies: I Mourn the Death Of My Father

entrecard_avatar.jpg Sunday, 09 August 09 - 12:25 PM (GMT +03:00)
By Anthony J Namata in Diary

After my father, Joseph Namata, died on the 10th of June 09, he was 82. I have been too devastated with grief to do anything. I haven't blogged since his death (and prior as I was tending to his illness). We buried him on the 13th of June. He had an absolutely amazing sendoff. I want to thank everybody from the bottom of my heart for attending the funeral and for being there to support my family in this difficult time.

My family and I would like to especially thank the Tanzanian government for honoring my dad for his contribution to our country. My dad was Chief Secretary (head of the civil service) in the late President Julius Nyerere's administration after independence. We were immensely touched and honored that the current President of the United Republic Of Tanzania, His Excellency Jakaya Kikwete, AND his predecessor, His Excellency President Benjamin Mkapa came to pay their last respects to my father at our family residence in Oysterbay, Dar es salaam. My sibblings and I shall be eternal grateful. May the good Lord rest our beloved dad's soul in eternal peace!

I have wanted to blog this for a while but I just didn't have the energy. I feel a lot better now, and I hope that with time I will gradually heal and become my normal self again. Thanks for dropping by to read my blog post. God bless!

Can You Really Live Without Your Computer?

entrecard_avatar.jpg Monday, 25 May 09 - 01:28 PM (GMT +03:00)
By Anthony J Namata in Diary

I've just come out of three weeks without a computer! My Windows Vista got corrupted somehow, and the BIGGEST mistake I made was to bring in a two-bit good for nothing techie to sort out the problem. Guess what he did? He removed my Vista (without backing up the drivers -- some charlatan!) and installed a FAKE Windows XP. Which, obviously, didn't work. I told him to get out of my house!

And so I took my laptop back to the dealership, where I bought it a year ago, and he gave it to one of his technicians who knows what they're doing. He had to copy the drivers from a similar computer, and then he had to reinstall Vista (fortunately he got me Vista's Service Pack 1 ... which is nice!). I went back online yesterday, and my word it feels good. I think I appreciate my computer now more than I did before. This thing is my life! You just don't realize it until it is taken away. Anyone been through this? Tell us your story. Leave a comment right here!

So, as the saying goes, it's back to the grinding stone for me (with renewed energy!). All I did these past three weeks is read books. I am thrilled to be able to work again.

$100M Worth of Online Work Posted on Elance

entrecard_avatar.jpg Wednesday, 18 March 09 - 08:04 PM (GMT +03:00)
By Anthony J Namata in Diary

I received an interesting email from Elance today that said, "With shrinking budgets and growing work loads, marketing and IT departments are increasingly turning to online work as an alternative to hiring full-time. Online work allows businesses to connect with independent professionals to get their work done while maintaining flexibility. In February, companies posted 23,000 new jobs on Elance, building on the 250,000 jobs and $100m worth of online work posted on Elance in the last 12 months."

Notable hiring trends surfacing in February’s Elance Online Work Index include:

Technology
* Companies and consultants are looking for and getting help building world-class websites, hiring experts in PHP (#2), MySQL (#3), HTML (#6), CSS (#8), XHTML (#17 - up ten spots), Joomla (#19) and AJAX (#25).
 * As businesses look for help driving revenue and collecting payments, PayPal (#41) integration skills have appeared on the list for the first time.

Marketing
* Graphic Design (#1) tops the charts for the second month in a row with huge demand from companies and agencies for creative services including Logo Design (#4), Adobe Illustrator (#9), Photoshop (#11), and Flash (#12).
* Marketers have discovered the customer acquisition power of great online content, and consequently, content creation skills are hot including Article Writing (#5), Web Content (#7), WordPress (#10), Blogs (#13), Online Writing (#22), and eBooks (#26).
* Generating top line revenue is on everyone’s mind, and as such businesses are hiring people with the skills to drive revenue including Search Engine Optimization (#15), Lead Generation (#16), Marketing Strategy (#18), Sales (#27), and Market Research (#29).

Administrative
* Businesses continue to need help with administrative work as illustrated by demand for Admin Assistant (#14), Data Entry (#20), Microsoft Excel (#24), and Typing (#36).

Reevaluating Time Management

entrecard_avatar.jpg Sunday, 22 February 09 - 02:19 PM (GMT +03:00)
By Anthony J Namata in Diary

I think the time has come for me to reevaluate my time management here. I spend waay too much time online, and it isn't always productive. Trouble is, there's a lot going on at any given time, and there's a lot I want to accomplish still, and in all of this confusion 'some'  projects are inadvertently sidelined to make room for stuff I want to get done pronto. But where does all of this leave me...overworked underpaid or what? It's time to shed the load!

I'm thinking, and this is radical, Social Networking has gotta go (or at the very least,  kept minimal). Email (newsletters I've opted in for) have gotta be deleted fast to clear my inbox for important mail. I tend to allow my inbox to get out of control and unmanageable for the most part. That has to stop. Operation clear-up has to go into effect--NOW--and I have to stay on the ball come hell or high water.

Network Marketing: takes up a lot of my time, I need to figure out a way to kick this to the curb...but without hurting my business. I know it CAN be done. I just need to figure out a way. Nice and clean. You know what I mean?

Reinvent Myself with a new focus...I want to write! Full-time (I already write like crazy, but this is different). I want to concentrate on fiction. My first novel goes out soon, my next is already in the making, I want to keep that up for as long as takes to build a self-sufficient residual income. It can be done!

Provide Marketing Services to businesses ... this I want to continue doing but I will be very selective as to whom I take on as a client. I don't want to be bogged down with work. I want to do it because I enjoy it, and yes, I want to get paid for it.

That pretty much sums up this blog entry for today. Hope you picked up some pointers on re-evaluating YOUR time management too.

Building Routine Into Stuff You Put Off

entrecard_avatar.jpg Thursday, 12 February 09 - 02:00 PM (GMT +03:00)
By Anthony J Namata in Diary

It is quite refreshing to get back to editing my novel. It needed a major rework, and my only constraint as it would seem, was the lack of time (or should I say inclination) to put in the time. I think I've got my head sorted now. It's all about building routine into your day / schedule to make it work. It eventually becomes dead easy to stay on track.

So the next time you hear yourself going, "when I have the time I'll do it", know this: that the right time never comes. You could quite easily carry on like that for the rest of your life. Making up excuses as you go about your day isn't going to get you anywhere. Just do it! Allot a small portion of your day to what you want to achieve, and eventually it will become routine ... and you will realize that it really wasn't that difficult to do.

Today I placed an order for yet another newspaper ad in 18 Thrifty Nickel Newspapers in the West Region USA, to promote my site tripleclicksdeals.com ... I already have one coming out on the 15th -- that's 2 days away! You know what? Offline marketing is where it's at. It does produce. Always! I couldn't say the same of online strategies. Seriously. Optimize online, and then go off. Literally!

My tasks for today: I shall be editing my book; maybe do Google Hot Trends in search of topics to Blog. I see Paula Abdul's fashion faux pas (which I don't think it is actually) at the Grammy Awards is a VERY hot topic this hour (at number one!). Let's see what I can spin out of that. I'll play it by ear. Catch you later folks!

Google Hot Trends Has Kept Me Busy

entrecard_avatar.jpg Sunday, 08 February 09 - 11:57 AM (GMT +03:00)
By Anthony J Namata in Diary

Today, I got out of  bed t 8am (I don't even do that on a week day) because the plumber said he was coming to fix a leak in my tenant's (who lives next door) kitchen sink boiler . The deadline (coz he's off to the beach at noon) was 11am. Well, it's way past midday now and the blithering fool still isn't here. Sometimes I just want to get violent!

Google Hot Trends has kept me fairly busy. I went to bed really late last night. I'd been scouring Google Hot Trends for what people were searching for and blogged an item on Alex Rodriguez hot news item of the hour (which is nowhere to be seen today) on testing positive for anabolic steroids. Amazing how these hot topics continue to bring me traffic even way after their sell-by date. I love it! Can you imagine how much this would've cost me on Pay Per Click; or how many man hours it would've taken to network in forums and social networks like Hub Pages, Squidoo and such like for dead wood traffic? Knowing HOW to steal traffic from Google is really cool because it really costs nothing. A couple of hours each day, and if you do it consistently, can bring you traffic for absolutely nothing. Not a dime! That said, the fact that my blog is really just a diary, gives me much more leeway to publish whatever the heck I like. I suppose a more niche-specific blog would've been more restrictive in that sense.

I really have to work on my novel today. It has been on the backburner, again, because so many things have gotten in the way of me progressing with it. I've gotta wrap this up by the end of the month whether I like it or not because it is going to be published by Lulu in March. Wish me luck!

I should be writing for the local travel & tours trade soon! A presentation that I'd been working on for a week or so (which was for the most part hindered by writers block would you believe it!) went out yesterday. Basically, the document is a quick synopsis of current internet trends and how the travel trade can manouever their way into internet traffic to profit online AND off (with my help, of course), mainly, through article marketing.

That's it for today. I should do this more often (will try). Have a great day folks!

Recession Proof Jobs - Sales Representatives Top The List

entrecard_avatar.jpg Wednesday, 04 February 09 - 01:25 PM (GMT +03:00)
By Anthony J Namata in Diary

I started out as a sales representative (after a spell in the rag trade as an apprentice fashion designer and later a dancer/choreographer & singer) in the early 80s. But my word, little did I expect that "today" the sales representative was going to be back in demand. Sales representatives top the list--and, unlike other professions, not because there's a shortage. Rather, in tough economic times, a good sales force is a critical way to pull a company out of a downturn. "There are two kinds of companies," says Rob McGovern, CEO of Jobfox. "The kind that cut staff during the downturn and, on the other side, the ones trying to grow their way through the downturn."

Mortgage broker Steve Curnutte, quoted in a Times Picayune article by Kate Moran, says “Entrepreneurs with a background in technology are perhaps best poised to make money and do some good during this period of financial upheaval.” Conversely, avoid businesses in the industries hardest hit by the recent economic downturn: housing, construction, lending, banking, mortgages, and investing.

As health insurance costs skyrocket and people live longer, Americans are expected to take more and more responsibility for their own health and wellness. If you can teach people how to get healthy and stay healthy – or sell them products or information that can do this – you may be able to take advantage of this trend. Trend watcher Gerald Celente calls this the “Heal Thyself” trend.

In conclusion: recession-proof jobs do exist. It is not a myth, and it certainly isn't a fantasy. This article was inspired by an article I read on the International Association Of Home Business Entrepreneurs which led me to an article Hard Times Bring Opportunities for Entrepreneurs and the one on Recession-Proof Jobs at Forbes

TripleClicks On Cover Of A Magazine

entrecard_avatar.jpg Friday, 23 January 09 - 10:36 AM (GMT +03:00)
By Anthony J Namata in Diary

It has been a marathon couple of weeks for me. I just don't know what to say.  I can't keep up with the workload. There's so much promotion to do for the new store (tripleclicksdeals.com) that I'm going utterly mad right now. I would give anything for a break. Lol

Today, my store hits the cover of Advertising Dar (a Tanzanian advertising magazine for Dar es salaam and Zanzibar). I'm pretty fired up about this, as you can imagine, and I'm busy trying to mobilize my affiliates to ride this wave by getting fliers and calling cards of their own circulating around town whilst the campaign is on. Makes perfect sense.

I spent almost the entire day browsing the Wanted section on Craig's List USA yesterday, and I was utterly shocked and dismayed to see the number of people begging for food, clothing, gas, little odds and ends, and even dog and cat food. This recession is destroying families. The number of people in there who said they'd lost their jobs and were struggling to make ends meet made my heart sink. I truly am saddened to see these people going through such hell. I really want to help.

And so I offered some people odd jobs to do for me, like putting out fliers and calling cards to promote my business, and for the eager to start a business of their own I invited them to join my network marketing business. I'm doing my bit to help.

What an emotional rollercoaster that was. To conlude this doom and gloom post I want to end on a high note, with the story of ten average Joes who didn’t wait to get fired!
